Weather was hot on Saturday, but we enjoyed visiting with everyone that stopped by to check out copies of  Thinking Skinny, and also the docu-journal series by Norman Wilkins, 10,000 Days in Alaska. My immediate family joined me for this home town event.

It was great fun to see everyone at my booth at the fourth-annual, Two Rivers Music Fest and Craft (and book) Fair in my home town, Motley, Minnesota on July 24-25, 2010. I signed copies of THINKING SKINNY, and offered the 3-volume, documentary journal, 10,000 Days In Alaska by Norman Wilkins (my father).  The Staples World published the photo at the left.

The June 21, 2010 LinkedIn Summer Networking Extravaganza held at the Airport Hilton in Bloomington, Minnesota was a great success. I spent the day talking to visitors about Thinking Skinny and also showing 10,000 Days In Alaska–something for the women and the men!

Thinking Skinny from Cloud 9 Publishing is a finalist in the 20th Annual Midwest Book Awards www.mipa.org (social science/self-help category).  Here we are at the Award ceremonies May 12th at the Minnesota Center for the Humanities and although we didn’t take first place, I couldn’t be happier. Pictured here left to right: Connie Anderson (she did the final editing of Thinking Skinny), my husband Chuck Kasun, and me (Nadia Giordana).  A list of all finalists in all categories appeared in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

ON BECOMING UNSTOPPABLE

Nadia Giordana with Brian Tracy prior to his Peak Performers seminar at Milleapolis Convention Center
Nadia Giordana with Brian Tracy prior to his Peak Performers seminar at Minneapolis Convention Center, October 7, 2008

I attended a leadership luncheon with about a dozen other people to meet with Brian Tracy at Porter & Frye restaurant in the Hotel Ivy yesterday. It took place immediately prior to his Peak Performers seminar at the Minneapolis Convention Center. One thing Brian said struck a chord with me. I’ll paraphrase: It’s amazing what happens to a motivated person who sets a particularly ambitious goal for themselves and then meets that goal. They become a completely new person—anything is possible. Their self esteem goes way up, and their confidence. The way they walk, the way they talk, everything changes—and they become unstoppable. Brian Tracy is one of America’s leading authorities on human potential and personal effectiveness and I felt fortunate to meet with him and talk briefly (pictured above standing with me). His statement easily applies to the way losing 88 pounds in 14 months has made me feel–unstoppable!
